Bongi Bees offers a 2 day beekeeper training for interested beekeepers at R 1200 per person for 2 day.
The first day of the course covers information on the bee industry, bee safety, bee biology, understanding your apiary, knowing what’s in your hive, management and maintenance of the hive.
The second day includes practical application of Day 1 lessons and an apiary visit on site. We also cover the business value chain and taste different types of available honey.
Spend a day with Lulu the beekeeper. She will give a short talk on bees and their value to human, environment and society . She will then take you on a tour of the apiary – experience the thrill of connecting with bees at close range . If you are lucky , you may see the queen and harvest honey. You will understand the critical relationship between bees, trees, fruit and vegetables.
You will then experience extraction and bottling of your own honey bottle.

The Ubuntu beekeeping programme focuses on poverty eradication, job creation, women emancipation, food security and environmental protection. The aim of the programme is to assist unemployed poor women from rural communities to become micro-honey producers and to meet their socio-economic needs and improve lives of their families and their communities.
The Ubuntu beekeeping programme is a programme of the JDC, implemented by Ripples for Change in partnership with Bongi Bees. As part of the programme Bongi Bees has trained women in Rayton ( Gauteng) and Ramokoka (North West) and has assisted them to start their own businesses and to form cooperatives focusing on the bee products and the honey value chain.
Recognizing the crucial role that bees play in agriculture by enhancing crop yields and food quality, Bongi Bees actively participates in pollination services in partnership with crop farmers. We currently have 100 active bee hives are willing to explore pollination partnerships in Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
