Beekeeping training for women from poor communities

The Ubuntu beekeeping programme focuses on poverty eradication, job creation, women emancipation, food security and environmental protection.   The aim of the programme is to assist unemployed poor women from rural communities to become micro-honey producers and to meet their socio-economic needs and improve lives of their families and their communities.

The Ubuntu beekeeping programme is a programme of the JDC, implemented by Ripples for Change in partnership with Bongi Bees. As part of the programme Bongi Bees has trained women in Rayton ( Gauteng) and Ramokoka (North  West) and has assisted them to start their own businesses and to form cooperatives focusing on the bee products and the honey value chain.

Pollination

Recognizing the crucial role that bees play in agriculture by enhancing crop yields and food quality, Bongi Bees actively participates in pollination services in partnership with crop farmers. We currently have 100 active bee hives are willing to explore pollination partnerships in Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
